In these times when image is so important, Beauty and Perfection go hand in hand.

So, what is beauty? Ana Margarida Carvalho believes that beauty lies on what make us different, but not necessarily perfect.

 

Wrinkles are not only a symbol of time past, but also a first clue of the many layers of one’s being.  As such, different and even hidden layers, although disruptive or disturbing they might be, can also be alluring and beautiful at the same time.

 

This time the inspiration for this work came from her personal memories while travelling around the world, be that of a yellow coral on the bottom of the sea, an old wrinkled Indian woman or a gathering of Native Mexicans.
